Katie is a proud wife and mother to 4 children. Her family lives in southern Arizona where they operate a restaurant. As a child she always refused to name just one color as her favorite. As an adult she rediscovered her love for color and has found peace through art.

Katie creates colorful, acrylic works of art on canvas. She uses thick palette knife and brush strokes to give each artwork thick texture. She works on landscape and botanical imagery with texture and bold color. Her work embodies a joyful spirit and shares her love of color and nature.

Wife and Mother
Katie met her husband on a study abroad in London in 2005. Fast forward 3 years and their oldest was born 3 weeks after Katie finished her Elementary Education degree. The change to motherhood was difficult for Katie, but her most treasured moments were spent crafting with her kids. During this time Katie and her husband moved all over the western United States, traveling, exploring, and searching for purpose and a place to call home.
Entreprenuer
In 2015 Katie and her husband purchased a cleaning company in New Mexico and then in 2022 they purchased a restaurant in Arizona. "Becoming entrepreneurs was one of the hardest things we've ever done. The incessant worry about work never goes away. Something always goes wrong and it's always our problem to fix it." It was in the turbulent days of business ownership that Katie found herself searching for peace which eventually led her to rediscover her passion for art.

Katie was always a crafty kid but it wasn't until she had 4 children and a new business that she desperately needed peace in her life. Katie began painting as an active hobby in 2019. She found that painting calmed her mind; when she was focused on beautiful colors she was unable to worry about the burden of business and motherhood. In 2024 a sudden loss in the family made her realize how fleeting life can be, so Katie decided to chase her dreams! She began Painted Nook, started a serious art practice, and pushed her way into the art world.
